Steve Madden Poncho Coat
It is so hard to find coats that are stylish and fits my pear/apple shaped physique.
I took a trip to TJ Maxx and laid eyes on this beauty. It’s a poncho coat with buttons and a hood. Super warm. Has an adjustable cinched waist and it’s oh-so-stylish. It cost $89.
On this day, I was soooo tired. I didn’t feel like getting dressed or putting on any makeup. But Eden of Reel Clever Films had a booth at Eastern Market and I had to support. So, I dragged myself out of the house. Did a little beat. And went. Sometimes you just have to take that first step.
I am so thankful to have photographers in my life, especially since my camera gave out on me. Ugh! That’s another story.
But at the end of the day, these pictures came out super fab. Thanks boo.
Idakoos X Fall Hoodie Style
Posted November 2, 2015
on:
Got an email from Idakoos wanting to send me a customized hoodie. I am in love with hoodies. So warm and snuggly. And it being customized was even better.
Since hashtags are trendy, I stared with those.
#Curvy
#Black
#Hijabi
Killen’ The Game.
I chose these words because they are who I am. And frankly, I am a quite unapologetic about each one. I’m curvy, so there is a stigma that I’m lazy or unhealthy. I am Black, so I am ghetto or poor. I am Muslim, so I am oppressed or a terrorist. I can be all of those words and be none of the stigmas attached. So I put the last phrase on there to solidify it all. I kill the game, which means I am confident in my abilities to go above and beyond. So boom!
The Idakoos sweater was easy to create and shipped pretty fast. The material is heavy duty and the inside is warm and soft. You have the option to buy one or 100+ Definitely check them out.

Yeah. #LeahVDaily
Was trying to get a shot of myself throwing leaves in the air, but it was a total fail. Ha.

(Tyra Beauty Cosmetics Line…And all mine! hehe.)

Tyra Beauty Review
Detroit, MI
So as you guys know, I love-s my cosmetics. I can’t always apply it, but I love it nonetheless. I got some cool products from Supermodel, Tyra Bank’s new cosmetics line. I made a vlog about it on my new YouTube Channel: Leah V. Daily Tyra Beauty Review Check that out. And you can also see my beauty regimen as well.
In the gorge selfie above, I am wearing several of her cosmetics. Smack My Fat Lash (Mascara), OOPS Liner, Line ‘Em, Fashion-Able Blush (Cream), Cheek In A Stick, and Light In A Stick.
“We’ve created innovative, luxurious and easy-to-use products to help you look and feel your fiercest—in just minutes!”

First off, all these products are hypo-allergenic. There are a few liquid eyeliners that I can’t use because they burn my eyes. Opps Liner was very gentle and I loved the pointed tip and easy glide applicator. It also has an “Oops” tip on the opposite side where you can actually erase messy wing lines and sculpt the point to perfection. The Smack My Fat Lash was also gentle on my eyes and didn’t clump up upon application. I used Line ‘Em on the outer lower water line for extra drama.
WordPress won’t let me rotate this pic! Anywho, turn your computer sideways. Hehe. I used Fashion-Able Blush and Cheek In A Stick on my cheeks. The first one is in a cute little jar and the other in a stick. Both are so easy to blend and lasts all day.
(Shades: Pitaya, Flower band: Wal-Mart, Sweater: Torrid)
After a long day, my makeup lasted and I was satisfied with the products. If you want to check out the rest of Tyra Beauty or purchase any of her cosmetics go to Tyra Beauty…
And I’m ready for my closeup :0

Toasted Oak Grill & Market

1st Fashion Blogger Alliance Brunch
So we were just about ready to quit–well, I know I was. “The style blogging industry is dead in Detroit,” I whined. I’d had enough. I was invited to the Style Expo and was a style judge. This is where my stylish fate was sealed…I met Jordan. We took some selfies, and then she explained to me what she was trying to do. I was interested.
We talked, and talked some more. Then we began brainstorming. We met some other cool bloggers along the way. We all complained how there wasn’t enough or this and wasn’t enough of that. We made up our minds that we needed backup and decided to put a call out for other creatives.
We only expected it be us four…plus two or three others. To our surprise many bloggers were available and interested!
Shout out to Toasted Oak Grill and Market in Novi for accommodating us rowdy girls.
So our goal is to create a support system and creative platform for Detroit style bloggers to connect to with each other as well as business.
Bloggers Bellow: Style Trifecta
So, we had an overwhelming turnout! Thanks to everyone who attended and made this meetup possible. We will be hosting a blogger meetup at least once a month. And we are excited to see what creative endeavors arise from our new alliance.

Empowerment: Fashion Blogger Style
Life is funny. The right people kind of just fall into your lap when you least expect it. I met these crazy fashion bloggers at different times, but it is like we’ve known each other for years.
I’ve been blogging for about 2+ years now and didn’t even know there were other local bloggers like myself floating around the city. We’ve bounced around from fashion show to fashion show, colliding at the last step. And this happened.
We decided to do a silver and black themed shoot, geared towards empowerment, strength, and entrepreneurship. Basically, everything we aspire to be and want to inspire others to partake in. Scott M., Worldiction, a local art photographer allowed our creative juices to flow without interruption.
Each of our personalities and styles are different, yet we all have a common goal of wanting to empower each other through our blogs and vlogs as well as our audiences by encouraging creativity and individuality, a strong sense of self.
Shall we do a wardrobe breakdown?
Turban/Scarf: Borrowed
Neck piece: I made it, booyah!
Lace Dress: F21 Plus
Snake Bracelet: Deb’s
Earrings and Ring: Joanne’s Fabric
Lace Hand Piece: Claire’s
Ballet Flats: Pay-Less
This year has been a whirlwind of successes and failures. But as I keep pushing and meeting new people who inspire me every moment, I find the failures shrinking. Life is about living through our experiences and finding out what we’re supposed to learn from them. I am thankful to have a set of empowering women–and men–who push me to be something more, something greater than myself.
A photo of the crew and Scott! The man behind the camera.
My last photo of the day! And I have the whole city behind me.

OOTD: SunniesMania Cat-Eye Shades
Posted August 2, 2015
on:It’s been a while since I was in the area of Downtown Detroit near the previous Tiger Stadium. It has been refurnished for the better, yet still has that ‘old’ Detroit feel to it.
The power of social media and how it can connect people from all over the world. Eden followed me a few months back; I had no idea who she was. I went to a fashion show, and she was there! She came up to me like, ‘Hi. I’m Eden from Instagram!” I’m like, “Heeeeeeey, girl.” The rest is a short history.
Follow her company on Instagram @ReelCleverFilms and http://www.reelcleverfilms.com/
I met so many fashion boos this year. Check out Jordan’s blog, too. http://www.lilmissjbstyle.com/
Yall know my sistah’ friend already. Go follow her @TheeeBeautyQueen on Instagram 🙂
I love my new camera. It has taken everything I do to the next level. And I am learning how to edit.
I was going for an eccentric laid back look. I really love how you can play with fashion and switch your style up. I added a fuzzy turban and a pair of cat-eye shades from SunniesMania. My new fave shade store.
Thanks Eden for capturing these beautiful moments. I love, love, love them and I hope you do, too!
Ragin’ Turbans X Atlanta Edition
Posted July 15, 2015
on:(Photo: Sumiyyah Abdur-Rasheed, MUA: Bertina B., and Model/Stylist: Leah. V.)
The photo above shows a lady who just got off a plane, had about four hours of sleep, and curated an entire photo-shoot with wardrobe included for four models from another state. Mind blown.
(Model: Jonda, Photo: Sumiyyah, MUA: Bertina, Turban/Stylist: Leah V.)
So basically, I was introduced to Sumiyyah of Ann Nahari earlier this year. We clicked immediately. She told me she had equipment. I told her I could get models and curate the shoot. We came up with this set of beautiful photos. Our concept was ‘Ragin’ Turbans’.
(Model: Jonda/ Stylist: Leah V.)
I wanted this shoot to be culturally diverse, as well as body-diverse. We wanted to show people that anyone could rock a turban!
(Model: Brittany, Wardrobe/Turban: Leah V.)
I found Brittany off Instagram. She’s also an Atlanta-native. Boy, did she transform!
I fell in love with this “Golden Girls” sequin top.
So fierce. I can’t even handle it. I love when my team’s work comes to life!
(Model: Erica, Photo: Sumiyyah, MUA: Bertina, Stylist/Turban: Leah V.)
Erica is also a local Atlanta model and a dance choreographer. Such a pleasure to work with 🙂
For this look, I was going for African Queen. I love how the prints mix and collide.
Queen Erica.
I had an idea for a dress. Sumiyyah took my idea and made it come to life. The dress fit like a glove. I love designing!
So, at the end of the day, this was an amazing shoot. Everyone chipped in when I started to freak out. Clothes and bits of fabric was everywhere. All in all I had a wonderful time curating this shoot. Thanks to everyone who was involved :0 🙂 😮
