Style Blog X Self
I’ve been blogging for a little second now, but just beginning to take it seriously. Hell, I’ve just started to take myself seriously. Instead of treating my blog like Instagram or Facebook, where I post pretty pictures, I should be treating it like a diary–a virtual diary. Isn’t that’s what blogs are for? Blogs were created to be that independent platform where creatives and internet revolutionaries could have a voice.
Since I am turning the big 2.8. and embarking on different journeys, I am self-reflecting on who I am, what am I doing, and what had I initially set out to do? In these days and times, the world is so fast, people have quick access to so many avenues and channels that no one has time to stop, mediate, and think. And since, I am nearing 30, I feel the need to take a breather and take it down a notch.
Life is everything vs. self. You always have to come back to self at the end of the day. I think that’s important to say, but so easily forgotten. I need the same reminder as well. That’s why I am so grateful to have creatives around me so that they can say, “Hey, you’re getting crazy. Come back to life and we’ll talk. K?”
Like my buddy, Madinah 🙂 Who beats my face and takes photos of me. What more could I ask for? Haha.
I think everyone should walk through life with a long cape on and a smile on their face. We’re getting old, have fun sometimes!
I had a lot of fun with this shoot, even though it was hot as heck outside. Us, Michiganders, aren’t used to very hot days. lol.
Stubby ‘n’ fierce. Bye Felicia!

Ford Freedom Awards 2015
Before I begin going into the awards show and the unforgettable musical performances. I just want to shout out my ‘glam’ team. Madinah hooked me up once again with this dramatic, yet subtle makeup look. She and her daughter, Lamiah, also helped me get dressed and accessorized 🙂 The owner of Ann Nahari, shipped my couture gown overnight. I designed this gown with her a few months ago, and she brought my idea to life. Thanks!
I styled this entire look. I haven’t really worn red that much, but I am experimenting with new textures and colors this season.

Lace Turban: Indo/Paki Flea Market

I never would’ve found out about this event unless Carlotta didn’t mention it on her Facebook page. Thanks for the invite. We were definitely the ‘Ladies in Red’.
Special musical guests for the evening was Big Sean and award winning singer, Ledisi. She can blow!
Shout out to White Castle for being open 24 hours!

One Swak Dress: Two Styles

Last year, I won a contest in Toronto and was given a $200 shopping spree by SexyPlus Boutique. I picked out this magenta colored dress by SWAK designs. It fits my wide hips and falls perfectly. I am short, so usually dresses are too short or too long.
So, I was at a wedding recently and paired this dress with a polka dot cardigan and a magenta colored scarf to match. It was cute yet simple.
So, this one was taken at a picnic this summer. I wanted to be a little edgy so I paired the dress with pearls, a twist turban, and some killer 70’s inspired shades from Forever 21.
Which style do you like best? And why?

I was asked by Scotta Intimates owner, Shaneia Caldwell, to participate in a Street Style Blogger Competition along side Colours By Numbrs, Kori and StyleMile, Bruna (pictured above). Although, I didn’t win I had a blast.
I had to prepare my fierce face and walk before the competition started.
My older sister came to support, and I taught her some new poses.
One of the lingerie models before she rocked the runway.
Before the show started, you know we had to get some photos in!
I am so silly. Gorgeously silly. DIY skirt by the way!
A few of the models, waiting their turn on the runway.
Thank you Madinah for the BeatFace 🙂 Thanks to my sister for coming out. The models looked fabulous, and congrats to all the bloggers who came out and supported.

I got up close (and almost personal) with Tyler Perry. He was keynote speaker at the Women’s Empowerment Expo. I must say he definitely did some empowering. He encouraged us to follow our dreams and delete negative energies from our circles.
Of course I was on the prowl for some of Detroit’s eclectic styles. And I found some.
This naturalista had the hair and attitude to match.
I really loved her carefree spirit and laid-back girly look with the floral skirt.
A fellow blogger and her stylish posse!
An after show selfie!
