Ford Freedom Awards 2015
Before I begin going into the awards show and the unforgettable musical performances. I just want to shout out my ‘glam’ team. Madinah hooked me up once again with this dramatic, yet subtle makeup look. She and her daughter, Lamiah, also helped me get dressed and accessorized 🙂 The owner of Ann Nahari, shipped my couture gown overnight. I designed this gown with her a few months ago, and she brought my idea to life. Thanks!
I styled this entire look. I haven’t really worn red that much, but I am experimenting with new textures and colors this season.
Dress: Ann Nahari
Lace Turban: Indo/Paki Flea Market

I never would’ve found out about this event unless Carlotta didn’t mention it on her Facebook page. Thanks for the invite. We were definitely the ‘Ladies in Red’.
Special musical guests for the evening was Big Sean and award winning singer, Ledisi. She can blow!
Shout out to White Castle for being open 24 hours!

I got up close (and almost personal) with Tyler Perry. He was keynote speaker at the Women’s Empowerment Expo. I must say he definitely did some empowering. He encouraged us to follow our dreams and delete negative energies from our circles.
Of course I was on the prowl for some of Detroit’s eclectic styles. And I found some.
This naturalista had the hair and attitude to match.
I really loved her carefree spirit and laid-back girly look with the floral skirt.
A fellow blogger and her stylish posse!
An after show selfie!
Playing in Make-Up with Madinah

on:Gosh. I just love when Madinah does my make-up. She wanted to try a soft face with a blue lip.
She also wrapped my turban for me. I love the new style.

I wish my skin looked this smooth everyday. The struggle.
Yes, it’s a photo shoot. All black everything ‘curvy style’ with polka dot leggings underneath a sheer maxi dress from
Forever 21.
I (heart) my MUA!
(My mom is in the middle, and my big sis, Tonisha, is on the end)
I have worked with Leslie Ann Pilling before last year on a fashion show, and I just love what she is doing in Detroit, meshing local fashion, art, and music. She invited us to The ‘Reveal’ Beauty and Trend Showcase at the Fillmore in Downtown Detroit. We had a blast watching the ballet dancers, listening to the opera singers, and the electro-funk pop band play.
I got to wear my new Forever 21 Plus dress and shades.
One of the models getting her wild hair done. The theme reminded me of urban forest fairies.
Negash designs was in the building.
Where art and fashion collide.
This hair model has been practicing pointe/ballet for over thirteen years. She was an exceptionally graceful dancer.
First, let me take a selfie!
My big sis came out. We had a blast.
You know I had to take photos after the show.
