Leah V. Daily Crashes NYFW
New York City
NYFW Headquarters
September 13, 2015
As you all know, my blogger friends and I planned on doing a series on what we would wear to NYFW if we had a chance to go. Of course, I’d wear my tutu! I was on Instagram the next day and saw all my buddies at NYFW: posting selfies, street style, and clips from high-profile shows. At that very moment, I decided that I was actually going to fly to NY for the day and crash the Rachel Zoe show.
Here’s what happened…
I took the subway to Washington St. I then got lost. I hailed a cab. Got changed in the back of said cab. He dropped me off on the side of the building. I hopped out. Laid my tutu down. Threw on my crown and strutted into a barrage of hungry street photographers. They didn’t know my name, but they snapped. And snapped. And I posed and blew kisses. I even twirled. My time in the limelight was over once a ‘real’ celeb by. I was ok with that. I got my three seconds of fame. Ha.
I got in line to the Rachel Zoe show as if I had an invite. I stood patiently, more pics were taken of me. Fashionistas stood beside me, in front of me, and in back. The doors opened. People began taking their invites out. I gulped. When it was my turn to go up. I explained to the chic gate-keepers dressed in all black. I told them I was a blogger from Detroit. I flew in just on the belief that I would get into the Rachel Zoe show.
The girls in black looked at me like I was crazy for wasting their precious time and politely said no. No ticket. No entry. I nodded and took the walk of shame out the opening. I fluffed my tutu and hailed a cab to NYFW Headquarters. I wouldn’t be defeated.
I stopped by Chanel’s Meet My Boyfriend (the watch’s name) Exhibit. And received all the fan love after I was just denied access to Rachel Zoe’s show. I felt better already.
After I left Chanel, I went across the street to NYFW Headquarters. Some of the people were a little snooty, but then I met this cool student and her friend (who took the pic).
I asked Chloe if I could capture her style, and then we started talking. She’s an indie designer living in NYC.
So that is half of my story of how I crashed (or tried to crash) NYFW in my tutu and crown!
The 2nd part of my journey will be posted soon.
The story doesn’t stop here…

My ensemble for the Walk Fashion Show. Cape jacket courtesy of Ashley Stewart.
Basically, I am posting my “Top Seven Looks” from the show.
This gown was made out of coffee filters!
A bubble wrap mini in neon green.
Sheer outer-space. Love the shoulder detail. I thought this was simple and chic.
Floral is all this season. And the pop of color on this really brings it all together.
Wildcard! His teeny trunks are made out of rice krispy treat packages.
Dark pic Alert. Radio personality, Stewe and I after the show. Head gear was on fleek!

I met Etta and Jennifer last year at a natural hair event at WSU. They were really tall and boisterous. Not to mention their hair was super dope. I met them again at the restaurant they own, Sweet Potato Sensations, in Redford. Months went by…
One day, Etta asked me if I’d be interested in doing a “headwrapping” session at their event. Hellz yeah! I replied. When and Where?
(One of my turban tutorial models)
When I tell you these ladies showed out…they showed out! Many of the women packed into the room, wanting to know everything about turbans and how to tie them.
So not only was I able to teach the ladies about turbans, but I also got to speak on the style and fashion panel.
My friends came out to support 🙂
And we got to meet Mia Ray, fashion & lifestyle blogger
Raina B. sat next to me on the panel. A positive force, indeed.
Ebony, Trish’s Garage, was also on the panel.
Thanks so much for having me Naturally Flyy Detroit!!!
