Leah V. Daily Crashes NYFW
New York City
NYFW Headquarters
September 13, 2015
As you all know, my blogger friends and I planned on doing a series on what we would wear to NYFW if we had a chance to go. Of course, I’d wear my tutu! I was on Instagram the next day and saw all my buddies at NYFW: posting selfies, street style, and clips from high-profile shows. At that very moment, I decided that I was actually going to fly to NY for the day and crash the Rachel Zoe show.
Here’s what happened…
I took the subway to Washington St. I then got lost. I hailed a cab. Got changed in the back of said cab. He dropped me off on the side of the building. I hopped out. Laid my tutu down. Threw on my crown and strutted into a barrage of hungry street photographers. They didn’t know my name, but they snapped. And snapped. And I posed and blew kisses. I even twirled. My time in the limelight was over once a ‘real’ celeb by. I was ok with that. I got my three seconds of fame. Ha.
I got in line to the Rachel Zoe show as if I had an invite. I stood patiently, more pics were taken of me. Fashionistas stood beside me, in front of me, and in back. The doors opened. People began taking their invites out. I gulped. When it was my turn to go up. I explained to the chic gate-keepers dressed in all black. I told them I was a blogger from Detroit. I flew in just on the belief that I would get into the Rachel Zoe show.
The girls in black looked at me like I was crazy for wasting their precious time and politely said no. No ticket. No entry. I nodded and took the walk of shame out the opening. I fluffed my tutu and hailed a cab to NYFW Headquarters. I wouldn’t be defeated.
I stopped by Chanel’s Meet My Boyfriend (the watch’s name) Exhibit. And received all the fan love after I was just denied access to Rachel Zoe’s show. I felt better already.
After I left Chanel, I went across the street to NYFW Headquarters. Some of the people were a little snooty, but then I met this cool student and her friend (who took the pic).
I asked Chloe if I could capture her style, and then we started talking. She’s an indie designer living in NYC.
So that is half of my story of how I crashed (or tried to crash) NYFW in my tutu and crown!
The 2nd part of my journey will be posted soon.
The story doesn’t stop here…
